We came, we saw and we took NO names! The 2016 Celebrity Sweat Flag Football Challenge took over the Buck Shaw Field at Santa Clara University on February 6th to host the 15th annual Celebrity Flag Football Game Super Bowl weekend. Teams were led by honorary captains Michael Irvin and Tony Dorsett. The Red team and its NFL legendary QB – Doug Flutie took to the field again the Blue Team, led by Redskins QB Kirk Cousins and Ludacris. The afternoon began with a fabulous Flyover courtesy of the Navy, and with a pregame show featuring marching bands, spirit dancers, cheerleaders and mascots from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara High School and Wilcox High School. We invited the Wounded Warriors to scrimmage against the pros before we kicked off the game itself, and it was incredible. The game was intense, but in the end Team Flutie pulled out a victory 59-58 over Team Cousins. The complete recap and photos from the event will be posted later this week. And don’t forget that you can catch the highlights from the game in a special beginning this weekend on Cox and SportsNet in the Bay area, with complete coverage, Feb. 20th, on Spike TV. Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy the festivities and support our military and the Wounded Warriors.
